The constant army presence at La Yerbabuena further increases the suspicions of those who have chosen to stay. They feel they are being policed rather than protected.
“They are not here to look after us, they are here to watch us. They are no use to us here, we’ll know better than the army if and when the volcano is going to erupt. We have a connection with this land.
We put our trust in God and Volcan de Fu- ego De Colima, not the army.”
